Obituary for Gilbert "Gil" Alan Wagner
Gilbert "Gil" Alan Wagner
January 29, 1946 - July 12, 2017

Gilbert was born in Brighton, Colorado at Brighton Community Hospital on January 29, 1946. He grew up on a farm in Platteville and in January 1955 he and his family moved from Platteville to a farm on the southwest side of Greeley. He graduated from Greeley High School in 1964. He lived there until his time of his enlistment into the military.

He was drafted into the military but enlisted into the Air Force in late fall 1965. He was stationed at Hill Air Force Base in Utah as a Jet Engine Mechanic. During his time of enlistment, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. He completed six courses and they included jet engines, maintenance management and a trainer/supervisor course. He completed his service as a Sergeant and was released on an Honorable Discharge on May 9, 1969.

He married Kathy Batz on May 15, 1966. He was in the Air Force at the time of his marriage. They lived in a mobile home on a farm in Greeley and Gil worked at Budweiser. Rob was born on August 1, 1970 and his sister Kristi was born October 2, 1972 and she passed away December 25, 1976 due to illnesses. They were married for 40 years when Kathy passed away in 2007.

He worked at Anheuser Busch "Budweiser" from 1969 to 2001. While he was at Budweiser, he was a driver, worked in the warehouse and a draft tech (lead). He retired in 2001 because he was diagnosed with Parkinson's.

Gil was a hard working, strong man who loved his family, friends and neighbors. He loved the Rockies and the Broncos and he loved his Yorkie-poo Buddy. They were inseparable and he loved him so much. He loved animals and would donate to the Denver Dumb Friends League.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kathy, daughter Kristen Elaine and his parents Henry and Susan Wagner.

Gil is survived by his son Rob Wagner, daughter-in-law Lanette Wagner and granddaughter Sylvia Wagner of Thornton, CO; brother Kenny Wagner, sister-in-law Sandi Wagner of Greeley, CO, nephews Kevin Wagner (Kazusa) and their daughter Lyla of Fairfax, VA, and Philip Wagner of Greeley, CO and niece Monica Wagner Smith (Mack) of Greeley, CO.

His free spirit and love will be missed by so many family and friends.

God speed and rest in peace Gil.
