Obituary for Albin Lamphere
Albin “Al” Lamphere passed away peacefully on January 16th, 2020 at the age of 85.  Al was born September 12th 1934 in Boone, Iowa to parents Al and Bea Lamphere.  The family moved to Manitou Springs, CO in 1944.  He attended Manitou High School, where he was a gifted athlete excelling in baseball and basketball, graduating in 1954. He attended Southern Colorado Junior College where he was very involved in theater, he starred in several productions as a member of the Delta Psi Omega national dramatics fraternity.  He also was a founding member of the Iota Xi social fraternity for men. He graduated SCJC in 1956, with an Associates Degree and planned to become a baseball and basketball coach.  He was accepted into the University of Northern Colorado where he intended to get his bachelors degree in physical education. Those plans were changed however when he was drafted into the Army that same year where he served with distinction in the 4th Armored Division earning the rank of Sargent and serving as a tank commander.  

On April 17, 1960 he married Elizabeth VanTil, and were married for 51 years until her passing in 2011.  They resided in Denver where they raised their family of four children, where he was also very involved with the Episcopal church and the American Legion. He was a successful salesman in retail with both JC Penny and Montgomery Wards, and then later in the food brokerage industry with Snyder Hayes and Hurd. Al is preceded in death by his wife and parents, and is survived by his brother Dale and Kathy Lamphere of Cheney Washington, sister in law Linda VanTil of Colorado Springs, daughter Sue and Phil Kirkpatrick of Colorado Springs, son Dave and Ann Lamphere of Mead CO, daughter Beth and Randy Sons of Arvada and son Rich and Kirsten Lamphere of Denver. As well as 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, two nephews and one niece.  

Services will be held February 15th, 2020 at the Community Congregational Church of Manitou Springs at 1PM with reception to follow at the American Legion Eber Duclo Post 39. 

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to Denver Hospice.
