Obituary for Andria Lynn Lee
Andria Lynn (O’Day) Lee, age 40, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, November 9, 2018 in her home in Arvada, Colorado after a long 19 year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by many of her friends and family including her devoted dog Maddy who never left her side. She is survived by her Husband, Chris Lee, the love of her life and best friend to whom she married in July of 2004. She was born June 28, 1978 to her Parents Danny and Linda (Pates) O’Day at Luthern Medical Center in Wheatridge, Colorado. She grew up in and around the Arvada, Colorado area. She is survived by her siblings; Brother, Casey O’Day (Wife Nikki, Nephew Jayden and Niece Morgan), Sister, Melissa O’Day (Nephew Austin (Great Niece Charlotte O’Day) and Niece Abby) and Brother, Sean O’Day and her Grandparents Marlene Pates and Donald Pates. She is survived by many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins that she loved and was very close to as well. She is also survived by Mother in law, Claudia Lee and Stepdaughter Randi (Husband Matt) Lee Grisham and Granddaughter, London.
Since Andria’s first bone cancer diagnosis 9/9/1999 she has fought her way through numerous other ones including, breast, leukemia, skin, colon and esophageal cancers. In 2009 she was genetically tested and the results came back as positive for Li-Fraumeni Syndrome (LFS). It is an inherited familial predisposition to a wide range of certain, often rare cancers. This information helped to create a passion and drive in Andria and those that loved her, to bring awareness to other pediatric patients being diagnosed and dealing with cancer and reminders that they are not alone. Throughout all her trials with cancer she held strong to her faith. She was a beautiful living example of finding the beauty in the struggle and being grateful for everything and everyone and having complete trust in her God.
Andria had the opportunity to get a bone marrow transplant in 2006 from a perfect match of a young man in Germany named Andreas (Andy) Olbricht. She didn’t officially meet him until 2011 when he came to the United States. Since then they’ve had an unbelievable 7 year relationship and connection. She has since also gotten to connect to his beautiful wife Marieke. They’ve developed a deep connection that has created a long lasting bond between two souls and their families that would never have happened otherwise. Andria and her family consider them family and enjoy seeing them every year when they come to visit Andria. Andria and her family are beyond grateful for the additional 12 years of life Andy gave to her because of his selfless act of bone marrow donation not just for a stranger but one that was in another part of the world.
Andria saw every life experience as a divine opportunity to re-connect to her faith and ground in the truth of her spiritual beliefs. She truly was a person that walked in Faith. Being such a kind and generous spirit throughout her life, she would always put the needs of others before herself. She loved animals and children and absolutely loved her time being a Nanny when she had the opportunity. Andria never wanted pity and never felt sorry for herself or the trials that she faced. She had a strong will, positive spiritual mindset, loving heart and always knew that there was a bigger plan in action for her. She had to often remind her loved ones of this over the years. She never considered anyone a stranger. Her love for her family and friends knew no limits or boundaries and anyone who knew her even for a minute could testify to the power of love and gratitude she emanated. She was a traveler and had an uncanny ability to befriend someone immediately and stay connected to them for years regardless of distance.
To all of our special family and friends all across the world we want to say Thank You! Your continued prayers and support for Andria helped her in ways unimaginable through her 19 year battle with cancer. You gave her and her family the constant reminder that we can heal through love and kindness.
Thank you to her team of doctors and staff at CBCI - Colorado Blood Cancer Institute, Rocky Mountain Cancer Center, and (PSL) Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center of Denver for all the love and care given to Andria these past 19 years. Thank you so much; without you, Andria would never have survived.
You were not just there for her but also for her family as they stood beside Andria through all her treatments. We could not have been more blessed to have such a special team of specialists. Thank you to Agape Hospice Care and especially to Andria’s nurse Monique, who was there to take care of Andria and so graciously supported Chris and Andria’s family and friends during this last difficult 9 days of her life. We are grateful that she was in such professional and kind hands. Andria’s love for her Faith shows up in many bible verses that she loved and quoted often, in songs that she would listen to over and over again to get a stronger connection to her Father God and her Purpose here on Earth. The impact she had on so many people could create stories that could be shared for years. She truly was a very special young lady that touched the lives of so many people. The Bible verse that would sum up our beautiful girl Andria is “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32. Her only request would be that you put this on your heart and do your best live it with the purest and highest of intentions.
