Obituary for Craig Stephen Buth
Craig Buth was born in Denver in 1957 to Al and Leona Buth, and older brother David. He grew up in Thornton, graduating from Thornton High School in 1975. In high school he played football and basketball as well as participating in choir, assorted plays and musicals, and the literary club. Craig graduated in 1980 from the Colorado School of Mines with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Geology. He worked as an engineering geologist for Woodward-Clyde Consultants for 14 years including projects in the Paradox Basin Utah, Ft. Stockton TX, Beaumont TX, Sacramento CA, assorted air force bases, as well as local projects at the Museum of Nature and Science, the Rocky Mountain Arsenal, and the Budweiser Brewery in Ft. Collins. He received his Master of Science in Environmental Policy and Management from Denver University in 1998. He married Susan Bean in 1988, and they welcomed son Jeremy in 1998. Craig and Susan were very active in their church choirs, enjoyed camping and hiking, and keeping up with their son. They enjoyed several foreign trips including a photo safari in Kenya, a cruise in the Caribbean, hiking the Milford Track in New Zealand, and a trip to England and Wales with Susan’s orchestra. Craig was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease in 2000. His decline after the diagnosis led to his moving to the Rowan Community in 2009. He is survived by his son Jeremy, brother David (Margaret), stepmother Lila, stepbrother Jeff (Cynde).
