Obituary for Denise "Kay" Hinchliff
With the excitement of Christmas just 14 days away there was an even more exciting event happening. The birth of Denise Kay Price, a 6 lb 10 oz. screaming girl born to Dennis and Pansy Price in Dayton Washington on December 11th, 1941. Kay as she was called, lived her life in Dayton until 1947 when they packed up their belongings and moved to Chewelah WA and lived there until a farming accident led to the death of her father Dennis. Kay, her mother and sister Trish then returned to Dayton. Kay finished her schooling in Dayton. While in high school she was a cheerleader and was involved in 4-H. Kay graduated in 1959 and attended the University of Idaho for one year. While in high school she met the love of her life, that lucky fellow was Dick Hinchliff. They were married on September 3rd, 1960 and moved to San Luis Obispo where Dick was attending Cal Poly. Upon graduation Dick took a job with Merritt Equipment and moved to Vancouver WA. Kay was a stay at home mom taking care of their sons Jerry and Brian. In 1974 they moved Amarillo TX for a year and then returned to Vancouver until 1980 when they moved to Denver CO. In 1983 Dick and Kay opened Trailer Service Inc. Kay finally got her first outside the home job as the service manager for their business. She learned the job on the go and excelled at customer service. She enjoyed the garden, loved her dogs, and loved her two grandsons Adam and Jacob. Every year in July she and Dick traveled home to Dayton WA to attend the town’s High school reunion weekend. Kay passed away peacefully on February 19th 2016 from injuries sustained from a fire in their home. She is survived by husband Dick of Broomfield CO, sons Jerry of Broomfield CO, Brian of Westminster CO, grandsons Adam and Jacob both of Thornton CO, sister Rosie Archer of Dayton WA, sister-in-law Bertha Hinchliff of Dayton WA, brother-in-laws Jack and Jim Hinchliff of Oregon and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by mother Pansy, father Dennis and sister Trish Turner. In lieu of flowers the family has asked a donation be made in Kay’s name to a local animal shelter or to the Dayton High School Alumni Assoc. in Dayton Washington.
