Obituary for Douglas Raymond Tebbe

Douglas Raymond Tebbe, 65; passed away on November 21, 2014, with his wife and daughter at his side. Doug was born in Davenport, Iowa on August 27, 1949 to the parents of Herbert and Mavis Tebbe H e grew up in Hemet, CA with his four siblings. During his high school and college years he played basketball. Following graduation from Hemet High School, Doug was drafted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from Jan. 1969. He was wounded in May 1970. His was honorable discharged in June 1971. His dedication and sacrifice earned him two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Wounded Medal and numerous campaign ribbons. After leaving the Army, Doug had fulfilling and challenging career as a police officer. He worked for various agencies, including San Jacinto Police Dept., Coachella PD, Imperial PD, and most recently Adams County Sheriff Department. Doug was member of various organizations; Vietnam Veterans of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Friends of the Vietnam Memorial Wall. He was felt privileged to participate in the tradition of honoring his fallen brothers through a reading of the names at the Vietnam Wall during Veteran’s Day. Doug displayed a strong willed spirit, which was demonstrated time and again through many medical issues. He had a great love for his family. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed off roading and action movies. His parents, his brother Larry Tebbe and most recently his beloved son, Ryan Tebbe, precede him in death. He is survived by his loving wife, of 22 years, Karol Tebbe, Daughter: Heather Nickens, son; Bradley Tebbe, grand daughter; Jillian Nickens, his siblings; Victoria Chapman, Patricia Wisenski and Craig Tebbe. In lieu of flowers, please honor Doug through a donation to the National Spina Bifida Association in D.C. Funeral Services 11AM Saturday November 29, 2014, DeWitt and Tabler Funeral Home, 12114 Grant Circle, Thornton, Colorado 80241. Interment in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
