Obituary for Elizabeth Katherine Williams
On November 10, 1921 Elizabeth Katherine (Opiol) Williams was born in Walsenburg Colorado. Elizabeth lived 92 years and died in her home in Northglenn, Colorado, April 7th 2014. She survived the Great Depression, World War II, 15 years as a test technician at AT&T, 65 years of marriage, giving birth to 5 children who produced 9 grand-children, and 15 great-grandchildren. As part of the 1940 graduating class of Huerfano County High School, she played clarinet and continued to enjoy music as she encouraged all her children to play. She became a stenographer in the civil service where she met her life-partner Floyd Lee Williams. They were married on November 4th 1946 at Fitzsimons Army Chapel. As a military wife, she was a strong willed, resilient, proud and courageous woman. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking, cooking and time with the family. She easily made friends all over the world as her personality was kind and jovial. Those who knew her will remember her laugh and her ability to speak her mind. The family would like to express their gratitude to Front Range Hospice, Denver Hospice, and the care from her daughter, Elizabeth Williams, during the last days of her life. Elizabeth's funeral service will be held at the Dewitt & Tabler Funeral Home, 12114 Grant Circle, Thornton, Colorado, on Thursday April 10th at 5pm . Her burial will be the following morning, 9 AM, Friday April 11th at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado, staging area A.
