Obituary for Jerry Wayne Fults
Our beloved Jerry Wayne Fults, 71, of Thornton, CO, died Sunday, January 29th, 2017 at Boulder Community Hospital, following a four-year battle with colon cancer. His celebration of life will commence on Friday, February 3rd at 10:00 am; the celebration will be held at “The Vista” at Applewood Golf Course in Golden, CO.
Jerry was born on August 8th, 1945 in Pampa, TX to his mother, Addie Mae, and his father, J.E. Fults. Jerry attended Denver East High School, graduated in 1963, and went on to finish his associate degree in Electronics Technology. In 1964, Jerry entered the Navy, where he served for four years on the USS Hornet CVA-12.
After serving his time with the U.S. Navy, Jerry worked privately at Denver Burglar Alarm. Later, he worked for Western Electric, which morphed into Lucent Technologies Manufacturing. Over the course of his 30-year career, Jerry’s diligence and professional expertise culminated in his success as a Department Chief Manager at Lucent Technologies in Westminster, CO.
After retiring from Lucent Technologies, Jerry co-owned a sprinkler business called J&D Sprinklers, which allowed Jerry to continue earning his beer money well into retirement.
In 1983, Jerry married the love of his life, Eydie, in a double ceremony that included his brother, Jim, and his sister-in-law, Donna. After their marriage, Jerry and Eydie resided happily in the Denver Metro area.
Adventurous and playful, Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, skiing, and dancing. Above all, Jerry’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. A magnetic personality, Jerry often served as the catalyst that brought people together in his various social circles and blended family.
Many are grateful for having shared in Jerry’s life, including his wife of 33 years, Eydie; his daughters, Kim Richman (Johnny) of Huron, SD; Kaci Melody (Brian) of Golden, CO; Kim Millard of Northglenn, CO; Matt Henry of Temecula, CA; his four grandchildren Lauren, Taylor, Ivory, and Karlee; his brother, Jim Fults (Donna), of Canyon Lake, CA; his sisters, Pat Robbins, of Strausburg, CO; Pauline Fults (Jerry) of Folsom, CA; and Joanne Woodard of Quartsite, AZ; his mother-in-law, Dora Lopez, of Thornton, CO; and countless friends, extended family, and neighbors.
Jerry was preceded in his death by his mom, Addie; his father, J.E.; his father-in-law, Joe Lopez; and his brother-in-law, Charles Robbins.
In lieu of flowers being sent, Jerry’s family has asked that donations be made in Jerry’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
