John Henry Books Died peacefully at the age of 86 on Friday, May 15, 2015. John was born December 18, 1928 at home in Springfield, IL to Gottlieb and Mary Books, the youngest of 6 children. John retired from Pillsbury Mills after 45 years. He and his wife, Ilene, also owned several small businesses in the Village of Grandview. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing cards. John loved music. He sang in St. John's Lutheran Church choir and Land of Lincoln Barbershop Chorus most of his life and never missed the chance to dance a polka. He was a Master Mason and was dedicated to living an honorable, charitable life. John is predeceased by his wife of 53 years Ilene Books, his parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. He is survived by 2 daughters, Vicki (Steve) Sphar of Springfield, IL and Vinessa (Ben) Irvin of Aurora, CO. 7 grandchildren, Jessica (Gabe) Lewison, Zachary Sphar, Keegan McKenzie, Scott Irvin, Kylie McKenzie, Tyler Irvin and Nicole Irvin. Along with numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Service in his honor to be held at Christ the Savior Lutheran Church, Aurora, CO on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 6pm. There will also be a Memorial Service held in Springfield, IL at St. John's Lutheran Church on June 6, 2015 at 11:00am.
