Obituary for Larry 'Max' Thompson
Larry Max Thompson, 64, passed away on September 8th at his home in Northglenn, Colorado. He was born on May 29, 1949 in Oil City, Pennsylvania to parents Joseph Claire and Lorean Rebecca Brinker Thompson. Max grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated from Keystone High School in Knox PA in 1967. After high school he Served in the Navy from 1970 to 1974, achieving the rank of Petty Officer, 2nd Class, attended the Pittsburg Institute of Avionics, worked as Chief of Maintenance for several private companies including Braniff and Frontier Airlines, was an Instructor of Avionics at Aero Tech and at Emily Griffith colleges. He became an A and P mechanic at United Airlines where he worked for 19 years. Max married Rosanne Ruth Horning on January 14, 1983 in Westminster, Colorado and they were happily married for 30 years. Max loved Las Vegas and playing craps and video poker. He loved magic; he loved the conventions, meeting Siegfried and Roy, and doing magic tricks for family and friends. He also loved gardening and taking care of the swimming pool. He was always lending a hand, whether it was teaching one of his grandchildren to swim or helping build a Derby soapbox car. He enjoyed helping people, lending advice, and gave regularly to the paralyzed Veterans of America. He liked putting up bubble lights at Christmas-time, eating mincemeat pie and chocolate creams, and drinking MGD beer. Max was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Claire and Lorean Rebecca Brinker Thompson. Brothers-in-law James Horning, Joseph Horning, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Clarence and Ruth Horning. Max is survived by his spouse Rosanne Thompson of Northglenn, Co; his daughter, Cynthia and husband Steve Lynch of Thornton, Co; his daughter, Christine Buchanan and husband Philipp Theune of Denver, Co. His son Doug Buchanan from Chandler, Az; his daughter LeAnn and husband Larry Hunt of Fredricksburg, Va; his son Charles and wife Julie Buchanan of Denver, Co; his grandchildren Nicole Buchanan and Erik Miller, Kirstine Buchanan and Fabrice Tacorante, Stepahnie and Adam Willis, Ryan and Chelsea Lynch, Cassie and Frederick White, Brittanie Lynch and Derek Jones, Collette and James Tejeda, Alex Lynch and Lauren Harrower, Nathan Buchanan, Gabrielle Hunt, Hannah Hunt, Oscar Buchanan, Sadie Buchanan and Melody Buchanan. His Great-grandchildren Addison Miller, Izsabelle Lynch, River Tejeda, Lauren Miller, Annarose Buchanan and Callum Tejada Memorial Services 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at Crossroads Church 104th & Huron, Northglenn, CO.
