Robert’s sister Fern introduced him to a young teacher by the name of Margie Dee Wright. He thought she would make a “pretty good wife” so he proposed and they were married in Denver, Colorado on May 20, 1949 and to that union six children were born.

Margie and Robert farmed in the southern part of Kearny County, Kansas until 2008 when they moved in to Ulysses.
