Obituary for Lloyd Leslie Nokes
Lloyd Nokes of Thornton, CO passed away on June 28, 2011. He was 91 years old. Lloyd was born on February 16, 1920 in Danbury, Nebraska to Leslie and Notie Nokes. Lloyd grew up in Danubury and graduated from Granbury High School in 1938. He attended the University of Nebraska for 2 years. He then began working construction on the Ogallala Dam. On June 21, 1941 Lloyd married the love of his life, Twila Breach in Oberlin, Kansas. They moved to Californina, where he was employed by North American Aircraft. He entered into the United States Army AirCorp, serving in WWII. Lloyd and Twila moved to Denver, Colorado in 1946 where he began working for the Chicago Burlington & Quincy RailRoad, and became an Engineer. They moved to McCook, Nebraska in 1967 and after retirement in 1984 they returned to Denver. He was a member fo the First Congregational Church in McCook and the B of LE (Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers). Lloyd is survived by his wife, Twila.
