Obituary for Loretta Mae Pete Clark Lusche
Thank you for honoring my wish to not have a funeral service. It probably doesn’t seem right to not have music and flowers. If you wish, I suggest you have a nice bouquet of flowers in your home in memory of Mom and Grandma. Loretta Mae Pete Clark Lusche was born October 3, 1928 to Ethel Marie (Douglass) and Chester Franklind Clark in Columbus, Nebraska, the middle of five children. Her mother said she was a happy child and from an early age liked helping people. She liked school. At the age of five, her sister took her to the Public library - she loved the quiet and so many books. Her passion for reading, learning and crossword puzzles continued all her life. She graduated from Kramer High School in 1946. She went to work for the newspaper, “ The Daily Telegram” as proof reader and then Society Editor. She began dating John Wesley “Wes” Lusche in January 1947 and they were married August 08, 1948, in the Federated Church in Columbus. They resided in Fremont, Nebraska where Wes was a student at Midland College. He graduated with the class of 1951. They moved back to Columbus and enjoyed being back near family and friends but in July 1960, Wes’ job as a salesman for Behlen Manufacturing Co. moved them to Lakewood, Colorado, Loretta, Wes and their three children James Clark, born Sept 25, 1950, Barbara Diane, born Aug 29, 1952 and Geneane Marie, born May 10, 1957. The family lived at 420 Balsam St. for 33 years. As the marriage vows say: “for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health”, we saw it all during those years. What stands out in my mind as I write this is love of each other, especially during hard times and sad times. But oh! the fun we had with friends and relatives that came to visit. Loretta had joined the Lutheran Church in Fremont and especially believed in Martin Luther By-laws. The family joined Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church in 1963. In May 1993, Loretta “Pete” and John Wesley “Wes” moved to an apartment in senior living in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. I am writing this at the age of 83, (Oct. 03, 2011). Wes passed away Mar. 21, 2010, at the age of 82. Almost 62 years of marriage for Pete and Wes. We all loved him and he loved us. We do miss him. Pete is survived by her children- Jim & Pat Lusche, Barb & Bryan Sabin and Genie & Greg Stanfield, their dear, dear families, ten grandchildren- some married – 12 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. As of this date, sister Genie Ingold, Ottawa, Illinois and her family. Also preceded in death by older brother and sister and other relatives. I will not name them- this is long enough. Dear family, thank you for being so good to me. Now go gather together and share memories. Love one another and have a little fun along the way.
