Obituary for Mary Ann Blood
Mary Ann Blood was born January 16, 1958 in Perryton, Texas and passed into eternal life on March 2, 2013 in Brighton, Colorado. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 8 at the Chapel Hill Church in Brighton with her Pastor Robert Schlipp officiating, with a second memorial service scheduled for Sunday, March 10 at Midway Country Church, Logan Okla. Burial services to follow will be under the direction of Billings Funeral Home in Woodward, Oklahoma. Mary Ann loved flowers from an early age and always begged her mother to buy Petunia’s every year when the family planted their garden. She was forever convincing her mother she could keep them alive. Mary Ann attended Garrett Elementary and graduated from Beaver High School in Beaver, Oklahoma in May of 1976. She attended Apostolic Faith Bible College and she also studied decoration and designs briefly through Seward County Community College. Mary Ann lived and worked in the Oklahoma/Kansas area until she married Alvin Blood and moved with him to Brighton, Colorado in 2002. She has worked in many floral shops and eventually realized a dream of her own when she opened her own shop, Petals and Pearls. While in Brighton, Mary Ann had the privilege of working with the Chamber of Commerce where she helped establish a resource center for the local businesses. She was Chair to the Ambassador program and was an integral part of planning committees in preparing for events for the city. Recently she was honored with the Ambassador of the Year Award for 2012. She worked tirelessly in doing whatever needed to be done, from greeting to decorating and providing props for any event. She donated much of her time and own resources to making Brighton workplaces beautiful with her floral arrangements, as well as literally lighting up the town with her masterpieces that took the form of Christmas trees and window decorations during the holiday season. At the time of her death, Mary Ann was serving as the President of the Floral Association of the Rockies. In 2012 she received the Cherrie Award in recognition of her outstanding service and dedication to the floral industry. Mary Ann’s greatest joy was her family. She dearly loved her husband, children and grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She also loved the Lord with all her heart and lived a life in reflection of that. She had a true servant’s heart to meet needs and bless others as she could. Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Alvin Blood; three children, Kristan Sanders and her husband Jeremiah, and their children, Kiah and Ryann; Sarah Snow and her husband Preston and their children, Brady and Madelyn; T.J. Pope and his wife Gina and their children, Jerrett and Nora Rose. Additionally she is survived by her sister, Lois Zwernemann and husband Calvin, two brothers, Dean Harper and wife, Shirlene and David Harper and wife Janet, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, perhaps that number is greater than we can even imagine. Mary Ann was preceded in death by both of her parents , Raymond Harper and Lucille Bridges Harper as well as an older brother Orval Ray Harper.
