Obituary for Michael Chauncey Nimrod
Michael Chauncey Nimrod passed away September 27, 2011 at home with his family at his bedside in Brighton, Colorado. Michael was born on May 15, 1945 at Saint Mary's Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado.
Michael attended grade school at Lincoln Elementary in Pueblo, Colorado. He moved with his family to Oklahoma, attending East Junior High and Ponca City High School, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Mike represented the Ponca City Wildcats as a varsity member of the wrestling and football teams. He graduated from Ponca City High School, Ponca City, Oklahoma, in 1963.
Following high school graduation, Mike attended Oklahoma State University, School of Technical Training, Okmulgee, Oklahoma, receiving a degree in Printing-Lithography.
Commensurate with his printing education, Michael served his country as a member of the 45th Infantry Division Reserve Unit, Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
Michael was a loving husband, father, son and brother. He relished time with his family, and was especially proud of raising his daughters, and time spent with his wife, Dixie, daughters, and grandchildren.
Michael spent a productive career in the printing production industry, working for Oklahoma Graphics in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Frederick Printing in Denver, Colorado. Never one to be idle, Mike established "Mi-Keys Locksmith Service" in his retirement years, actively serving customers up to the time of his death.
Michael was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. His love of auto racing was exemplified by his stature as flagman for the Pueblo Speedway, Oklahoma State Fair Speedway, Rocky Mountain Speedway, and the Big Car Racing Association (BCRA).
Michael equally loved the mountains of Colorado, hunting elk annually with his father-in-law, Bill Shackelford, and other family member and friends. He enjoyed camping and fishing the Estes Park area with Dixie, daughter, Heather, granddaughter, Aspen, and Uncle John Muranye.
Michael and Dixie were members of the Grace Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and have been recently attending the First Presbyterian Church of Brighton.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Mae Nimrod (Muranye) and his youngest brother, Kevin Wade Nimrod of McAlester, Oklahoma.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 35 years , Dixie De Nimrod (Heafner) of the home, and three daughters, Debra Lynn Barowsky, of Boise City, Idaho, Heidi White, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and Heather Withrow, of Beaver Creek, Ohio, five grandchildren, Justin Myers of Yukon, Oklahoma, Taylor McKnight of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Zachary Barowsky and Trevor Barowsky of Boise City, Idaho, and Aspen Dee Withrow of Beaver Creek, Ohio. Father Norris Patrick Nimrod of Springfield, Missouri, sisiter Pam Crafts (Nimrod) and husband Danny of Springfield, Missouri, brother Larry Nimrod and eife Gina of Eucha, Oklahoma. He also has numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss Michael immensely.
Services are scheduled for Thursday September 29, 2:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Brighton, Colorado.
