Obituary for Michael Christopher Monroe
Michael Christopher Monroe, age 42, died suddenly Sunday night, Oct 27, 2013, after suffering a seizure at his home in Boulder, Colorado. Michael was born in Arlington, VA, but grew up in Denver & Cortez, CO, Moab, Utah, Dickinson, ND, Falls Church, VA, and Greenville, NC. The main loves of his life include his two Grandmothers, his 1969 Firebird, whatever stray animal(s) he had taken in (and there were many), and his tropical fishes. He was on track to graduate with a degree in Psychology May 2014 from MetroState where he attended classes. Michael is survived by his mother, Dr. Susan MacGregor Batenhorst (Henderson, NV), his father, James Louie Monroe (Thornton, CO), his brother, Matthew James Monroe(Houston, TX), his beloved GrandMoms, Hazel Trimpe Monroe (Dad’s Mom, Purcellville, VA), and Lullah Cox Pringle (Mom’s Mom, Greenville, NC) and his longtime girlfriend, Joan Saunders (Lafayette, CO). There is no better way to remember and honor Michael than to donate in his name to the animal shelter of your choice; the Salvation Army; or any charity in the Boulder area that supports the Homeless. Michael had an amazing capacity for empathy. Anyone and everyone he met was welcome in his world. A group of his friends and family plan to meet in Lafayette, Thursday evening around 7PM, at the Sportsman Inn, 103 N Public Road.
