Obituary for Moreland, LaVeta, R.
LaVeta Moreland formerly of Westminster, Colorado, died at her son’s home in Brighton, Colorado on October 3, 2013, after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family. LaVeta was born in Olathe, Colorado in 1926 to Tivis and Ethelyn Walker. After graduating from Olathe High School in 1944, she married John Moreland, Jr. in 1946. Together they raised their family in Colorado and New Mexico. Settling in Westminster, LaVeta worked in food service for the school district before her retirement. In her final years, she traveled between Boston, Phoenix, and Denver, spending time with each of her children. LaVeta is survived by her four children, Yvonne Fucci of Boston, Beverly Lough (Ron) of Arvada, Brian Moreland (Kathie) of Brighton, and Jim Moreland (Waynette) of Phoenix, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and infant daughter. A memorial service will be held at the Dewitt & Tabler Funeral Home, 12114 Grant Circle, Thornton, on October 9, 2013, at 3pm. A reception will follow at Gethsemane Lutheran Church and School in Northglenn. A graveside service will be held on October 11, 2013 at 11:30am in Olathe, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, LaVeta’s wishes were for contributions to the Denver Dumb Friends League or the Denver Hospice. Please send contributions to the Brian Moreland family home for dispersal.
