Obituary for Myrna Dean Chavez
Myrna Dean Chavez went to heaven September 17, 2012 peacefully at her home in Denver Colorado with her family by her side. She was born November 17, 1939 to Della and William Mesteas. She was the loving sister of Daniel (Ernestine), Ida (Eugene), Josephine (Robert), Delores and step-sister Laura. Myrna married the love of her life James 'Santiago' Chavez on August 9, 1958. She was the wonderful mother of Regina (Trino) Anthony, Katherine and Alejandro. She was the doting grandmother of Amanda Chavez, Joseph and Jacob Chavez and James Chavez Brungardt. She was the proud great-grandmother of Anissa Chavez and Analiz and Johnny Perez. Myrna was the Godmother (Nina) of June Nuanes, Fred Chavez, Eugene Abeyta, Desire Martinez, Christina Aguilar, Maria Lerma and Monique Paris to name a few. Myrna grew up with her cousins the Nuanes's which we lovingly call 'The Brothers', Joe (Cooter), Manual, Ross, Conrad, Sam, Rick and Tim. She was a loving aunt, comadre, cousin, niece and friend to many. Myrna worked in the Headstart program beginning from the pilot program and worked with many children, teachers and parents for over the next 37 years. After her retirement, she devoted the rest of her life to loving and caring for her family and friends. She was an inspiration and great mentor to all. Per Myrna's request, her favorite color was PURPLE and she asked if everyone could wear her color to the services. Rosary and Mass of the Churstian Burial, beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday September 20, 2012 at the Church of the Annunciation, 1408 E. 36th Ave., Denver, CO 80205. Internment to follow at 1:30pm - Staging Area B, Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Avenue, Denver, CO 80236 Reception to follow at Chavez's House, 3722 Gilpin St., Denver, CO 80205.
