Raymond Fred “Ray Ray, Stuart Little, Motorboat” Latzer, of Northglenn, CO, passed away peacefully at Bonaventure of Thornton April 29, 2024. He was 94.
He was surrounded by his daughter, family, and friends when he died.
Known for his tenacity, love for all, and exceptional courage, Raymond was a man of God with a great sense of humor. Despite being legally blind for 18 years, he faced life’s challenges with a positive attitude and a smile. He was kind and generous. A long-time member of Fourth
Dimension AA, Ray proudly celebrated 49 years of sobriety.
Ray and his wife Barbara were married for 63 years. They reared three children, Debbie, Randy, and Sherry, in Lakewood, Co. where they lived for 41 years. In 1990, they moved to be closer to daughter Sherry Dinkel and her husband Don in Northglenn. Raymond and Barbara loved helping their grandsons, Darren, and Justin, and cherished every moment spent with them.
A proud Eagle Scout, he climbed Longs Peak when just 15. He took the Scout’s Oath seriously the rest of his life and dedicated time to many community service activities. Raymond volunteered at the Salvation Army and the Bancroft Fire Department. He assisted at the Northglenn and Thornton senior centers and donated his blood for others. He served in the Air National Guard.
He worked for many years in outside sales and public relations for Mountain States Ford Trucking in Denver, retiring in 1982. After his beloved Barbara died in 2012, Raymond found solace in swimming. He spent many hours at the Margaret Carpenter and Trails Winds
Recreation Center swimming and hot tubbing. He made many wonderful friendships and was well known for his Aquatics ability. He also enjoyed many hours playing Skip-Bo, a card game he loved to win and in spite of his low vision, he would always love playing the card game.
Survivors include his daughter Sherry Dinkel, grandchildren Darren Dinkel (Gina), Justin Dinkel (Tina), Scott Latzer, great-grandchildren Alicia Burgess (Red), Dalton Latzer, and Gianna, Houston, Milania, Skylar, and Carter Dinkel. Two nieces, Jackie Latzer-Dresser and Lisa Latzer Loyaga, and many nephews & nieces also survive him.
He was preceded death by his wife Barbara, his daughter Debbie, son Randy, and brothers
