Obituary for Robert James 'Jim' Mackin
Robert "Jim" Mackin of Westminster, Colorado passed away March 31, 2011. He was born on April 16, 1948 in Marshalltown, Iowa to John & Ruth Mackin. He was raised in Saint Anthony, Iowa and attended schools in Saint Anthony, State Center and graduated from West Marshall High School in 1966. He loved to play football while in school. After graduation Jim worked in the family grain elevator business, Mackin Grain Co. before he started farming. He then became an owner/operator and was an over-the-road truck driver for many years. Jim then went into the gas hauling business and worked for Ward Transport. He was provided an opportunity to move into the office with James Inc. He then became the Saety Coordinator for Groendyke Transport. Jim is survived by the love of his life, Sue, 5 children; Gregory James Mackin, Juli Nicole Mackin (Doug Tripple), Robert Wayne Mackin, Ernest Henry Mackin (Shana) and Kimberly Sue Daniels (Royal Daniels II), and 7 grandchildren; Landon Mackin, Kayli Mackin, Joshua Miles, Nichole Mackin, Royal Daniels III, Aaliyah Daniels, and Grace Tripple, two sisters; Maurine Elliott and Mary Mackin, and brother John "Jack" (Linda) Mackin, and preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Services will be held Thursday April 7, 2011, 11:00 AM at the Northglenn Christian Church, 1800 East 105th Place Northglenn, CO, followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be sent to any of the following organizations; www.mdanderson.org, www.hospicecare.com, or www.lls.org. Arrangements made by DeWitt & Tabler Funeral Home.
