Obituary for Ruben Maestas
Ruben Maestas, 77, of Thornton, CO. went to be with his Lord on February 1, 2017 at 5:47 am.
Ruben was born on March 9, 1939 to Remijo and Mary (Abenica) Maestas in Trinidad, CO. He was the oldest of 16 children. He served his country faithfully when he enlisted into the Navy as a young man. He married his beautiful bride, Frances (Aragon) Maestas on August 26, 1961. Ruben placed his trust in Jesus at the age of 37 and served his Savior as a deacon, teacher, and faithful follower in various churches. He worked with Safeway and retired from the company at the age of 48 due to health problems. His retirement led to the opportunity to devotedly help take care of his grandchildren, whom he loved very much. He enjoyed visiting with family and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. He loved watching Old Westerns and the Denver Broncos with his sweetheart, Frances. He had a love for politics and a heart for God. His true passion was telling others about the Jesus he came to know and love.
He was survived by his wife Frances; his children Donna (Philip) Stertz, and Marcus Maes, Johnna Kresge; his grandchildren Jennifer (Peter) Robinson, Nathan (Jessica) Stertz, Jaclyn (Jacob Elliot) Stertz, Esperanza Kresge, and Jenni Maes; and his great grandchildren Skyler, Kayden, Carmen, Asia, and Drake Robinson, and Annabella, Abram, Azariah, and Asher Stertz.
Ruben Maestas’ service will be held at Northside Baptist Church on Thursday February 9th, 2017 at 11 AM. Dr. Richard Robinson will be officiating the service. Following the service will be a graveside service at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 2 PM staging area "A".
