Obituary for Shannon Reischling
It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Shannon “Fish” Gregory Reischling on April 19, 2026, in Colorado Springs, CO.
Born on October 5, 2004, in Albuquerque, NM, Shannon was the beloved son of Jasmine Reischling and Patrick Reischling, stepson of Alissa Kindall, and cherished brother to Kristin, Caligo, Nathan, Aaron, and Brielle Reischling, and stepbrother to Haley, Joshua, and Avery Kindall.
Shannon is deeply missed by his grandparents, Youvonne Neeley of Cortez, Colorado, as well as Greg Neeley and Kanae Fukuhara of Austin, Texas, and his step grandparents, John and Dianne Runnells, Earl Martin, Aunts and Uncles: Brittany and Seth Devine (cousins: Avalyn, Liam, and Adelle), Beau Neeley, Mary and Kelly Wurster (cousins: Matthew, Mason, and Mackenzie) and Bill Reischling, Zac and Cori Goforth (cousins: Austyn Bailey, Rip, Audric, Malachi, Terrin, and Miles), Tori and Syd Mijanto (cousins: Kecia, Kadin, and Corde), Jami and Sarah Martin-Christensen.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Brenda Kay Martin and Larry Charles Reischling, along with a sibling lost before birth, Galen Thomas Reischling.
Shannon graduated from Prospect Ridge Academy in 2023, where he made several close friends whom he remained connected with through his love of online gaming. He scored a 1430 on his SAT and attended the University of New Mexico in the fall of 2023. There, he formed another close group of friends he continued to visit and vacation with often. Shannon enjoyed video games and had several circles of online gaming friends. He also enjoyed puzzles, both jigsaw and brain teasers, along with tabletop role playing and deck building games.
Shannon was a protective older brother who was always looking out for his younger siblings. We will always remember him wrangling those four younger siblings with airplane arms at zoos and amusement parks.
Shannon had a strong work ethic that he carried into his job at Snarf’s Sandwiches, a company he loved working for. Shannon was a member of and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and had a strong sense of justice for all people regardless of race, sex, religion, or sexual orientation. He enjoyed asking and wrestling through life’s difficult questions and valued meaningful conversations with his friends.
The family would like to thank the ER team at Penrose Hospital, the Colorado Springs Police Department, a passerby, and the unhoused person who came to Shannon’s aid that tragic night. We’d also like to thank the many churches, our family and friends, and Prospect Ridge Academy for the care and support they have brought to our families.
Shannon will be forever missed by his family and wide circle of friends, teachers, and colleagues.
Memorial Service Details:
A Celebration of Life service for Shannon “Fish” Gregory Reischling will be held on July 25th, 2026 at the Broomfield Community Center (280 Spader Way, Broomfield, CO 80020), Lakeshore Room 1. The service will start at 4 pm with food and board/card games to follow for any who want to stay.
