Obituary for Shirley Ann (Firestien) Magnuson
Shirley Ann Magnuson died Friday at the age of 76. Daughter of Conrad and Mabel Firestien, Shirley was born on the family farm, west of Greeley, Colorado. She graduated from Windsor High School in 1953 and attended business school for a short time. She worked for several years as a bookkeeper, until she met and married George Magnuson in 1959. They moved from the Greeley area to Denver and began their life together. They later moved to Northglenn where they raised four children. Shirley loved her family and was a devoted wife and mother. She was an active member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church for over 45 years and enjoyed her church family. She also spent over a decade holding several positions with the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She loved supporting the Colorado Rockies, collecting coins, doing puzzles, gardening, dining out, and traveling. Most importantly, she loved spending time visiting with family and friends. She is survived by her beloved husband George of fifty-four years; four children, Scott, Todd, Paul, and Leslie; two grandchildren, Marinda and Michelle; one great-grandchild, Phoenix; daughters-in-law,Paula and Christina, and grandson-in-law, Brandon. She is survived by her sister, Wynona Herbstand brother Gerald Firestien; and sisters-in-law Beth, Ruth, and Dorothy Firestien. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Wallace, Wilbert (Chuck), and David Firestien; and brother-in-law Reynold Herbst. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews who she loved very much. Her memorial service will be held Tuesday July 17, 10:00am at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 10828 N. Huron St. Northglenn, CO 80234. A reception at the church will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice. Arrangements made by DeWitt & Tabler Funeral Home.
