Obituary for Steven Scott Lauper
Obituary
Steven Scott Lauper was born in Hopkinsville Kentucky on November 12, 1950 to Helen Connolley (mother) / Frederick Lauper (father) and entered into eternal life while at home in Denver Colorado on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the age of 65.
After High School, Steve served his county in the United States Army stationed at Fort Dix New Jersey from approximately October 1969 through April 1972 during which time he did a tour in Vietnam.
After leaving the service, he worked at York Communications in Shelbyville Indiana.
Later in life he worked at Discount Windows in Denver Colorado.
It was in Colorado that Steve accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Then after attending the “Walk To Emmaus” as a pilgrim, Steve renewed his commitment to Jesus Christ as well as a commitment to Linda.
That commitment led to their marriage as husband and wife on August 3, 2007.
Together they have invested their lives in the work of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by faithfully participating in the Columbine Emmaus Community and Bethel Christian Fellowship. To serve was his passion!
Another passion Steve “took to heart” was participating in the rescuing and fostering of dogs. Whether it was “feeding the homeless” on the South Platte River or unloading food from the “Food Bank of the Rockies” at Bethel it wasn’t uncommon to see Steve with either Ben or Dexter and sometimes Mercedes. Because of his love for dogs he often volunteered at “Izzy’s Place Senior Dog Rescue.”
Steve always had a quip no matter the occasion and two fingers to hold behind your head during photographs.
Helen and Frederick Lauper, Steve’s parents proceed him in death.
Surviving Steve in life is his wonderful wife Linda - Two Children: Kelly Frost and Stephanie Putt - Two Stepchildren: Robert Paradis and Tony Paradis - as well as Four Grandchildren: Hannah Frost, Miah Frost, Youth Putt, and Aidan Paradis.
A Celebration of Life service for Steve will be held at Bethel Christian Fellowship, 5405 W 1st Ave, Lakewood Colorado on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 10:30am. Following the service will be a memorial dinner in his honor and then a gravesite service at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Please come casual to help us celebrate his life, as Steve preferred t-shirt and jeans.
In lieu of flowers, Linda is requesting donations be made in Steve’s name to Izzy’s Place Senior Dog Rescue, 1151 Eagle Dr. #305, Loveland Colorado 80537, website is http://www.izzysplacedogrescue.com/
