Victor Manuel Martinez
Vic, also known as Manuel by the family, was born in La Jara, Colorado, in March 1945, the son of Ramon and Sofia (Muniz) Martinez. He moved to Montrose, Colorado with his family in 1948 at the age of 3. He attended Johnson Elementary School, Montrose Junior High, and Montrose High School. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He enlisted in the United States Navy when he was 17 years old and served from 1962 to 1968, serving 12 of those months in Vietnam. He was stationed on land in Bremerton, Washington, San Diego, California, and Japan. He was also stationed at sea on the USS Columbus and the USS Oriskany. He loved his country and was a proud veteran.
Vic received his Associate Degree in Appliance and Refrigeration Technology from the Community College of Denver.
Vic worked with great dedication at the Denver Mart for 43 years, during which time he was Operations Manager, retiring in April of 2012. He also served on the Board of Adjustment for Adams County.
He married Dolores Montoya in Montrose in 1963 and had four children: 3 girls; Patricia, Kristine, and Pamela, and one son, Victor Jr.
He married Karla in Cripple Creek, Colorado, in 2004 and welcomed her daughter Nicole as his own.
He is preceded in death by his son, Victor Jr., his parents: Ramon and Sofia, and his brothers Max and Ben. He is survived by his sister Helen and his brother Cisco. Also survived by his wife Karla, his daughters, and 17 grandchildren: Matthew, Brice, Max, Madeline, Mark, Michael, Victor, Melyssa, Anthony, Willie, Lindsay, Justine, Catrina, Joseph, Erika, Reid, and Lyla. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren: Gabriel, Nicholas, Joselyn, Jacob, Adrianna, Angelique, Adrian, Gia, Eli, and Ezekiel. He is also survived by his former wife Dolores, his extended family and his beloved dog, Bud.
He appreciated his gift of life, he loved his family and friends and he loved his God. He also loved hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, music, Black Hawk, The Outdoor Channel, Fox News, dancing, and going to the rodeo. Hooah!
Happy trails, Vic! You will be forever loved.

Saturday, October 22nd beginning at 10 a.m. with reception to follow.
