Obituary for William C. Springer
William (Bill) Clifford Springer, age 80, passed away at Elms Haven Care Center on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Bill is predeceased in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Springer, his brothers Sonny and Jimmy Springer and his sisters Olivia, Jane, Sara and Dorothy. Bill is survived by his loving wife Donna (Nevius) of 23 years. They were married in Colorado on November 26, 1991. Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife Donna; his son, Jody Bottoms; his daughters, Tina (Russ) Elliott and Cherry Curtis; Grandchildren: Robert Higgins (Jennifer Robertson), Jessica Higgins and Nicole Elliott; Great Grandchildren: Oliver, Eleanor, Evelyn (due February, 2015) and Kylie; and many other family members and close friends. Bill was born in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania in 1934. He served over 25 years in the Army which included service in Korea, Indochina and Vietnam. Medals and Commendations include several Purple Hearts; Good Conduct Medal with Silver Clasp; Army Commendation Medal with CLC; Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars; Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device; Staff Service Medal, 1st Class; O/S Bar Service Stripes (6); Korean Presidential Unit Citation; Expert Badge with Rifle Bar (M-16). He was a Tank Commander, Tank Instructor, Section Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Armor Crewman and Armor Intel Specialist. A memorial service will be held at Dewitt and Tabler Funeral Home, 12114 Grant Circle, Thornton, Colorado (303) 777-6335 on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11:00 am with Rev. Gary Belk officiating.
