Obituary for Lorin Devon 'Dave' Corbridge
Lorin Devon ”Dave” Corbridge, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, April 29th 2012. Dave was born on August 5th 1929, in Logan Utah. He attended college at Utah State University before enlisting in the United States Army in 1949. Dave served in combat in Korea with the 7th Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He received a Good Conduct Metal, Distinguished Unit Citation and the Korean Service Metal with 2 Bronze Service Stars. Dave was wounded in combat in 1951. Dave was working in the family business, a small grocery store called “The Garden Spot” in Lovell, Wyoming when he was called to active duty. He enjoyed the grocery business and after returning from Korea decided to make it his career. After marrying in 1954 he took a job as manager of “Clark’s Evergreen IGA” in Billings, Montana. In 1962 he accepted a position as general manager of “Kon’s Supermarket” in Casper, Wyoming. He was transferred to Denver, Colorado with the Dr. Pepper Company in 1968 as a district sales manager. In 1975 he returned to Billings, Montana and took a job at Evergreen IGA . He worked at Evergreen IGA and First Ave IGA until health concerns forced his retirement in 2003. The Department of Veterans Affairs gave Lorin Devon a 100% service related disability in 2008. Dave fought through his disabilities with dignity, class and grace, never complaining and maintaining his sense of humor until his death. Dave and his wife resided in Billings until 2008, they then moved to Thornton, Colorado to be closer to their grandchildren. Lorin Devon was proceeded in death by his parents, his sister Donna and his beloved daughter, Jodi Ann, who was the light of his life. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary, whom he loved more than life itself, his two sons and their wives, Douglas and Cynthia, of Billings, MT and Jeffery and Darcy, of Thornton, Co., his grandchildren Jason (Emily) Corbridge, Tahnee (Nick) Usher, Rachel Corbridge, K. Scott Corbridge , Katrina Sprankel and 6 great grandchildren and 7 nieces and nephews. A loving memorial service to his memory will be held at the Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park at 3605 Grand Ave. in Billings, Montana on Saturday, June 23rd, 2012. His request for cremation has been honored and he will be interred next to his loving daughter.
