Obituary for Master Sergeant Retired Lewis Ray Taylor
Master Sergeant Ret. Lewis Ray Taylor passed away on June 10, 2012. He was 80 years old. Master Sergeant Taylor was born on July 13, 1931 in LaPoint, Utah to Roy and Ethel Taylor. MSG Taylor began his military training at Fort Riley, Kansas February 26, 1951, with subsequent station at Fort Benning, Georgia and Fort Bragg, North Carolina. This was followed by duties in Korea in February 1953, Temporary Duty Assignments in South East Asia and Europe from March 1962 through August 1965. This was followed by a tour in Vietnam in January 1967 through February 1968, completing his military career in the Denver area. MSG Taylor spent six months in Intelligence Operations and fourteen years in Light Infantry. His final MOS was with the 5th Army Advisory Group in Denver, 11F5S. After retiring MSG Taylor became very involved with his new hobby, Team Ropping. He became very good at heading and healing. Lewis loved and took great pride in his horse and together with his parents they placed many jackpots. He and Dot spent many winters in Arizona, of which he loved dearly. They made many friends from all over and enjoyed it very much. Survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, daughter, Janet (Dane) Lovato, 7 grandchildren; Olivia, Diego, Matthew, Stephanie, Nicole, Christopher and Brandon and 5 great-grandchildren also survived by siblings, Calvin (Max) and Carol, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his son, Mark Taylor, siblings, Ina, Howard, Phyllis and Roy, and his parents. Service to be held Monday June 25, 10:15am at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO. Arrangements made by DeWitt & Tabler Funeral Home.
