Obituary for Bonnie Jean Carvey
Bonnie Jean Carvey died September 11, 2012, in Aurora, Colorado surrounded by her family. Bonnie was born March 24, 1927, in Visalia, California. Her family moved to Missouri when she was quite young for about six years and then her family moved back to California. She graduated from John H. Francis Polytechnic High School in 1945 and then attended Azusa Pacific College for another 2 years prior to attending Pasadena City College. Bonnie married Vernon Carvey in 1951. She was commissioned as a missionary in 1954 with the Conservative Baptist Foreign Mission Society, now known as World Venture. They served in the Philippines from 1955-1992. She was instrumental in church planting, Sunday School program development and women’s ministries. After retiring from missionary service in 1992, Bonnie and Vernon served as missions’ pastors in Michigan for several years. They moved to Denver Colorado in to live closer to their children. Bonnie worked for the Aurora Public Schools as a teachers’ assistant for 14 years. After her husband Vernon died in 1998 Bonnie started Bonnie Carvey Ministries to help 3rd world countries train and send missionaries to other 3rd world countries. Bonnie was also a respected leader in the AWANA program for many years. Bonnie loved children and loved helping people of all ages draw closer to God. Bonnie loved to sing and her intercessory prayers were a powerful force that moved the heart of God. Her joy in the Lord and her smile were steady elements she carried with her everywhere she went, every day of her life. Bonnie is survived by her 3 sons and nine grandchildren: Tim and his 4 children; Chuck and his wife Pam and their 3 children; John and his wife Christine with their 2 children. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Tuesday September 18, 2012, at the Dewitt and Tabler Funeral Home (12114 Grant Circle, Thornton, CO 80241) from 5-8 pm. All are invited to join us at the memorial service which will be held at Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church (10150 E. Belleview Ave, Englewood, CO 80111) on Wednesday September 19, 2012, at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bonnie Carvey Memorial Fund c/o World Venture, 1501 West Mineral Avenue, Littleton, CO 80120-5612.
