Obituary for Helene Schmid
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helene Schmid. She died on June 28, 2016, surrounded by family after a short but valiant battle with brain cancer. Helene was born in Bronx, NY on March 9, 1952 to Angela and Fred Schmid. Helene was known for her blue eyes and her bright smile, which she shared with anyone she met. She lived in New York until 1989 when she moved to Colorado. She married the love of her life, Joe Meli in 1995. Together they were very active in the community, working together in their business The Promotion Source through which they met many people and made many friends. This job was perfect for her, combining her talents as she cared for others and had a strong work ethic. Helene and Joe shared a love of travel, and frequently were sharing stories of their numerous cruises and trips to Europe, Mexico and throughout the US.
Joe Meli, her husband of almost 20 years, preceded her in death on November 18, 2014. She is survived by her two sons: Mark Stockholm, of Erie, CO and Chris Stockholm, his wife Wendy and grandsons Carter and Maddox, also of Erie, CO. She is also survived by Joe’s children Joseph, Stephen, Wendy and Florinda along with their families.
She is further survived by her two brothers: Karl Schmid and his wife Gail of Spokane, WA and Horst Schmid of Los Angeles, CA, along with her nieces and nephews Deirdre, Christine, Karl, James and Mary and their families.
Visitation will be Saturday, 7/9/14, 3pm – 6pm at De Witt and Tabler Funeral Home, 12114 Grant Cir, Thornton, CO 80241. Interment will be at a later date.
While there is nothing that will fill the void left here by her death, we take joy in the hope that we will be reunited again in heaven.
